My work deals with the idea of contained space and our emotional link to old architecture. For my current collection I have created objects/boxes in precious and non-precious metals that explore the relationship between surface detail and the space contained within, and the curiosity that this evokes. I’m inspired by architecture and take my imagery from the physical effects of the passage of time on old buildings; flaking paint, moss and lichens, extensions and alterations. I aim to create work that reflects our innate curiosity with contained spaces by compelling people to get beneath the surface.
